The Werewolf Versus the Vampire Woman is exactly the kind of Euro-gothic horror I love. Paul Naschy has great presence as Waldemar Daninsky, the foggy countryside and crumbling interiors look fantastic, and the whole movie has that dreamlike mix of monsters, violence, and eroticism that gives early-’70s Spanish horror so much personality.
The werewolf-versus-vampire setup sounds pulpy as ****, but the movie actually has a really strong atmosphere underneath it. Patty Shepard is great as Countess Wandesa, and the whole thing feels like a classic monster movie filtered through something much nastier and more sensual.
The 4K release is killer too. Vinegar Syndrome restored it from the original 35mm camera negative with HDR, and the image looks rich without losing that old-school film texture. You also get three different cuts of the movie, plus the feature-length Paul Naschy documentary, interviews, trailers, galleries, and more. Vinegar Syndrome
Gothic, ******, ****, and full of old-school monster-movie charm. Easy 5/5 for me. 😁

I've been trying to find this film in a watchable version for years. Finally found it here. I first seen it at the drive in many years ago and couldn't find it since. Great 4k visuals and sound.

Transfer looks awesome. This one was a lot of fun. How can you go wrong with a premise like that?

I loved The Werewolf Versus Vampire Woman. This is exactly the kind of European gothic horror that works for me, full of fog, crumbling castles, beautiful women, werewolves, vampires, and that wonderful dreamlike atmosphere that these films do so well. Paul Naschy is great, but it was really the look and mood of the film that pulled me in. There is something comforting about horror like this, where atmosphere matters more than keeping everything moving at a frantic pace. I could happily spend much more time in this strange little world. One of my favorite VS discoveries in quite a while.
