"The Doll was a wonderful discovery and a fascinating early Bergman film that gets inside the head of its troubled protagonist. The transfer looks remarkably clean and detailed while still retaining a natural film-like appearance. This is a beautifully presented release of an overlooked and psychologically rich drama."
"Comparisons to Bergman's works are at most aesthetic. Although the film does not really surprise in terms of narration and story, it works wonderfully in terms of mise-en-scène. Especially the old apartment building, whose shadows falling on the corridors and corners wonderfully elavates the internal dialogue in Lundgren's head. A really nice release with some solid extras."
"The Blu-ray from Klubb Super 8 features a solid high-definition presentation of the black and white photography, with good contrast and film grain, presenting the film in very nice quality considering the age and obscurity of the title, and the release is aimed mainly at collectors of Scandinavian cinema. To be frank, the slipcover is a little awkward, but you'll find the great reward once the inner amaray case is opened: a reproduction of the original Swedish poster. A nice touch indeed."
"I bought this as a blind buy, and I was not disappointed. It is a creepy and disturbing look at someone who is extremely lonely and we slowly see him lose touch with reality. You can't help but feel sorry for him, as he seems to be a genuinely good person who has some serious issues. Of course it doesn't end well for him in the end, and it gives us a lot to think about."

"An absolute discovery, way overlooked in the history of Swedish cinema. When that creepy mannequin comes alive I was pretty mindblown. Per Oscarsson does a great job in the lead role. Packed with excellent extras too even including another full length feature film. Very impressive."
"What happens when your biggest discovery is your own infantile desire to escape the darkness of your own heart? A man in 60s Sweden finds a mannequin and slowly gets lost in his fantasy world. If this was made today as an art-film with a Japanese anime-hugging-pillow or dakimakura it would still show loneliness in a timeless way. Almost everything in life is cyclical and timeless."
