This listing is for the standard edition 2-disc 4k UHD/Blu-ray release. The limited edition slip box (designed by Dylan Haley) was limited to 8,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the packaging and 40-page book.

Theresa Dunn’s mild demeanor and job as an inner-city school teacher for deaf children masks her rebellious nightlife of frequenting dance clubs and dive bars, searching for easy men and one-night stands. At odds with her older sister Katherine, whose seemingly idyllic life is itself a cover for infidelity and heartbreak, Theresa finds joy in her self-styled form of liberation, in part to overcompensate for the trauma of a disfiguring scar from childhood scoliosis and her repressive Catholic upbringing. When two wildly different men, the square but grounded James and fun but unhinged Tony, enter her life, Theresa is forced to confront her demons as never before, forcing her on a path of increased self-destruction.

Adapted from Judith Rossner’s best-selling true crime novel of the same name, director and screenwriter Richard Brooks’ haunting drama LOOKING FOR MR. GOODBAR stars Diane Keaton (Annie Hall) in an unforgettable and Golden Globe-nominated leading performance alongside an Oscar® nominated supporting performance from Tuesday Weld (Play It As It Lays) in addition to supporting performances from William Atherton (Day of the Locust) and Richard Gere (American Gigolo) in his breakthrough role. An unsettling exploration of mid-70s urban America at the intersecting decline of the sexual revolution and the height of the disco age, filmed with grit and elegance by five-time Oscar® nominee William Fraker (Exorcist II: The Heretic) and featuring an iconic soundtrack of disco and Motown hits, Vinegar Syndrome at last presents the long overdue 4K UHD and Blu-ray debut of this remarkable studio masterpiece, which has been exclusively restored for this release from its original camera negative.

Reviews

Looking For Mr. Goodbar

"Fantastic release of a film I didn’t think would see a Blu-Ray release, let alone 4K, it is great to finally own it and in such a great edition. The picture looks very good throughout and I highly recommend it to anybody who likes their cinema a little darker."

Jack A. (5/5)

a classic

"Obvious mention of how unreleasable in modern formats this film was thought to be aside, it just seemed criminal to not have it in circulation. A perfect mix of grit, city life, '70s culture/excess, music & the feeling of being stuck just outside of where one feels they should be, LfMG finally has what feels like a definitive edition, even if there's that one little bit of music replaced. There's so much music it can easily be missed. Excellent release."

Isaac W. (5/5)

It has been some time

"It has been some time since the ending of a movie rocked me like this. That last scene hit me like a brick. I was just completely stunned and sat in silence after it ended. I don’t even know what to say about the rest of the movie. I am not even sure if this is a move I can watch a second time after that."

Justin G. (5/5)

Looking For Mr. GoodBluRay

"Stunning 4K restoration of this masterpiece. Even better than I remembered with plenty of contextualizing bonus content."

Bren A. (5/5)

Must own

"An exceptional transfer on this bluray with superb extras. Diane Keaton gives a fierce performance filled with up and coming actors."

Ross B. (5/5)

Da avere

"Un trasferimento 4K eccellente, sia per l'audio che per il video, al servizio di un film che dovrebbe far parte della cineteca di ogni collezionista che si rispetti"

Filippo M. (5/5)

Unexpected find

"Given how rarely this one comes up on streaming, finding this release was extra great. Great packaging and excellent quality on the 4k release. Highly worthwhile."

Nathan K. (5/5)

Looking For Mr. Goodbar

"Outstanding release. Terrific transfer."

Warren P. (5/5)

Finally available in a good release.

"Star studded 70s drama that really connected with me. Really wonderful restoration."

Damon H. (5/5)

Gritty, grim, and glorious.

"An interesting look at the post-sexual revolution/pre-AIDS sexual landscape for a single woman in New York. As with many films like this, you are left wondering what a female writer and director would have done without the material, but there is no real sympathy wasted on the men in this film. The needy, possessive good guy, the childish self-regarding bad boy, the repressed, demanding father. Still depressingly relevant today."
