Saturn's Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn's Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

Three girlfriends descend upon a remote cabin for an idyllic, weekend getaway. Amidst the partying, Angelique (Christine Gallo) begins to research the bizarre circumstances surrounding the death of her grandfather, the former owner of the cabin. She soon discovers that her grandfather had collected documented evidence of a local satanic cult and their evil endeavors. After a drunken prank goes horribly wrong, a cloaked and claw-gloved satanic killer lays siege upon the cabin; forcing the girls to fight for their sanity and lives.

The startling feature debut from New York based writer / director Sal Ciavarello, Hardcore Poisoned Eyes is a claustrophobic, cabin bound, winter set chamber piece which Rue Morgue magazine called both “atmospheric and jarring”. By utilizing a single location, an insular cast, and the dynamic visual stylings of Emmy-nominated cinematographer Huy Truong, Ciavarello’s Hardcore Poisoned Eyes was significant for delivering genuine tension and nail-biting chills which were commonly absent from the work of his SOV contemporaries.

Reviews

Groovy little movie

"Cabin in the woods style scare fest that has the usual SOV pacing that you can zone into nicely"

Ian S. (5/5)

Awesome SOV horror from the early 2000s

"H. P. E is a movie with a bunch of charm. While not a particularly exciting movie, it manages to capture a unique vibe. The house and location in this movie are to die for. Over all this is a great release. Cool slip, features the original dvd art on the inner sleeve and has pretty good supplemental features. Another banger Saturn's Core release."

Drake D. (4/5)

Fun indie

"Slasher style indie that has genuine suspense and it’s a good time. The actresses work well once the suspense kicks in but the first 10mins of just natural interactions is abysmal. Again one ce the suspense kicks in you will lose yourself in the movie."

Bruce K. (4/5)

Hardcore

"Hardcore Poisoned Eyes is a gripping thriller that combines intense suspense with a dark, immersive atmosphere. The film’s bold storytelling and edgy visuals keep viewers hooked from start to finish. It’s a daring, unforgettable watch that leaves a lasting impression with its raw energy and fearless style."

Jeffrey W. (5/5)

Well made movie with some great features

"I would probably give the movie 4 stars. Competently made with above average performances for a SOV film. Looks better than most and gets a lot out of its cool location. A bit slow for me though. If I had to pick whether to watch the counselors at Camp Crystal Lake skinny dip or have theological discussions, I'd vote for skinny dipping every time. If you're the same, you may find this a bit of a slog at times. Still good enough to recommend, especially with the extras. The documentary included on the making of is one of the best I've seen in a while. In depth interviews with nearly everyone involved (not that that's a long list) make for a very entertaining watch. Too bad the third actress is MIA, but otherwise perfect."

Ed K. (5/5)

All hail SOV Black Phillip!

"Also, whatever you do, don’t let your lush of a friend get trashed on eight bottles of Corona Light and then prank call Aleister Crowley (mispronounced, natch) — nothing good can come of it. SOV horror flick featuring cults, a snowy setting, with a trailer featuring an Immortal song? Okay, you got me."

Jon C. (4/5)

I Couldn't Take My Eyes Off Of This One!

"This effort is a pretty awesome little ditty of a release! It has some great horror, action, blood and guts! Yes, it is low budget but that makes it even more appealing for me! The slipcover is awesome, as always with anything VS or their awesome partner Labels release! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

Paul K. (5/5)

Hardcore Poisoned Eyes feels less

"Hardcore Poisoned Eyes feels less like a showcase of effort than a dare to see how far abrasion can be pushed before meaning snaps. What plays as a grimy ditty—all jagged hooks and sour repetition—eventually sharpens into something perversely catchy. The real achievement is the sustained tension: not suspense exactly, but a clenched, hostile pressure that refuses release and becomes the point."

Walter P. (5/5)

Hardcore Poisoned Eyes

"This one was a treat for horror SOV fans. Saturns Core delivered again with an out-of-the box horror experience. If you are into underground SOV horror pick this one up! Packaging and presentation are excellent!"

Matt R. (5/5)

Hardcore Poisoned Eyes

"A good rule is to always buy Saturn's core! Great releases."
