Saturn's Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn's Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

After innocent, straight edge skater Paul is taunted and murdered by a carload of drunken longhairs, he is crudely resurrected by a mysterious, pot-smoking mad scientist as a masked, sword wielding psychopath with a horrifying facial skin graft and a skateboard bolted directly to his foot. Determined to enact bloodthirsty revenge on his killers and their cohorts, Paul marauds through the parking lots, warehouses, and house parties of Gainesville in a splatter fueled cacophony of homespun gore, psychedelic drugs, ‘80s skate punk culture, abrasive stock footage, and gobs of raspberry soda.

Initially envisioned as a document of the thriving underground music scene in Gainesville, Florida (as well as a cinematic adaptation of his self-published, DIY fanzine Twisted Tissues), Twisted Issues marked the SOV feature debut of visionary writer / director Charles Pinion (Red Spirit Lake, We Await) and announced the arrival of a singular and electrifying new voice within the video underground.  A lo-fi explosion of raw creativity and youthful exuberance, Twisted Issues remains one of the quintessential, regional SOV masterpieces of the 1980s; an experimental, cinema verité slasher film like no other that Film Threat magazine notoriously dubbed one of the top “25 underground films you must see”!

SKU: SC-049 SLIP

"One of my favorite Saturn's Core release in recent years! Charles Pinion is an amazing artist and I loved his double feature of WE AWAIT and RED SPIRIT LAKE. TWISTED ISSUES was an earlier film of his and more rough around the edges, but still has Pinion's very own style. This is punk rock SOV movie making at its best. Saturn's Core once again outdid themselves in terms of extras. There is soooo much cool stuff to watch. I love the artwork on this release too. Highly recommended!"

Ridiculous, chaotic, and a lot of fun

"This is a total cult movie through and through. Twisted Issues is rough around the edges, but that is also a big part of the appeal. It has a lot of energy, a weird sense of humor, and the kind of homemade charm that makes releases like this really rewarding for collectors. Not for everyone, but definitely a fun discovery."

Twisted SoV

"A psychedelic, splatter, punk rock, skate, comedy gem. Twisted Issues has a professionalism lacking in many other SoV works of the period, particularly in it's tight editing. I'm now even more upset that I missed the now OOP Red Spirit Lake/We Await double bill."

Toby L. (5/5)

Twisted Issues Indeed!

"This cool SOV release features a very unique plot and great music throughout! It was a very different yet still engaging viewing! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

Classic Splatter sov

"Twisted Issues is a pretty major release from Saturn's Core. Sov Insanity wrapped in an excellent package. A must for fans of the genre."

Drake D. (5/5)

Fantastic punk-horror debut from Pinion

"From the guy who made RED SPIRIT LAKE and WE AWAIT, two other Saturn's Core favorites, this is the debut of Charles Pinion, and it just might be his best movie! Half freewheeling document of the Gainesville punk scene ca. 1988, half horror/revenge flick, half (yes, there's a bonus half) completely unclassifiable, it's one of the most unique and exciting movies from the shot-on-video horror boom and well worth your time and attention. Absolutely stacked edition from Saturn's Core finds the film pretty nicely remastered (as much as possible), and with loads of supplements, including 3 commentaries (!) an interview, and some fantastic bonus footage of a number of the bands on the soundtrack. Definitely another model for how to do these releases right, and well worth checking out for the curious / upgrading for the initiated."

John K. (5/5)

Twisted pinons abound

"Absolute chaotic bit of SOV brilliance here from Mr. Pinion once again. A mishmash of bloody horror, comedy and punk rock all squeezed into 80 minutes of well shot, no budget fun. A very strong contender for my favorite Saturn Core release here and that's say something as a majority of their stuff hits perfectly for me. As with most of SC's releases, we get a massive haul of extras to did through and that alone is another reason for buying this. There's just something so satisfying watching these SOV creators passion for their projects compared to major filmmakers nowadays."

Cody B. (5/5)

Worth a look

"This didn’t totally do it for me, but it was GENUINE outsider art."

Tyler S. (3/5)

Punk rock mayhem

"Crazy SOV flick with punk music, gore and trippy lightning effects."

Niko A. (4/5)

TWISTED ISSUES

"The ultimate movie."
