Del and the Art of Improv

"This is a real sweet and fun documentary on Del Close. If you are into improvisation within any medium, especially if you enjoy sketch comedy, this is for you. All sorts of thanks to this dude from the best of the best. The slipcover and sleeve artwork are fantastic! I guess I would have liked more special features, but oh well. Next time I see Del, I'll figure out how to make that happen. Until then. . ."

Interesting documentary of Del Close

"This documentary is fantastic. I never knew how much influence and connection Del had with today’s and past comics. Great from start to finish. Pick this one up for sure if you’re into documentaries."

For Mad Men Only

"I ended up only watching about 10 min of this one."

Peter O. (5/5)

Super fun and informative documentary

"Super fun, yet also somewhat tragic and informative documentary about a little know person (at least to me) who influenced some of the greatest comedians of the last few generations. I just knew him as the preacher from the eighties version of the blob. Very cool art on the slipcover and sleeve."

Fascinating Documentary

"If you’re into comedy history and improv, this is good stuff. Lovely artwork"

Keep Your Friends Close

"The story of who many consider to be the king of modern improv (or at least the prince under Elaine May and Mike Nichols), who helped revolutionize the process and taught a considerable bulk of the comedic aristocracy. The talking head style of documentary is often seen as a lazy way to present a topic, but it seems appropriate here considering the breadth of individuals who were influenced by the subject. Thankfully, the film also takes a kind of warts-and-all approach to the man, which is appreciated, and even delves into categories of improv and a diversion into a DC comic book created by Close (portrayed for this section by James Urbaniak, who funnily enough has also previously played underground comic legend Robert Crumb). A lovely film for true fans of capital-c Comedy."

Alan H. (4/5)

Seminal comedian

"An unsung hero of comedy that I'd never knew about."
