D.A.R.Y.L. was a blind spot for me, as I'd never seen it before, and I'm so glad Vinegar Syndrome introduced me to it. This is a genuinely underrated 80’s movie with so much charm and plenty of memorable moments. It has that wonderful Spielberg-esque feel to it, and I couldn't help but think of A.I. Artificial Intelligence while watching it. I don’t think it inspired Spielberg, but the similarities are certainly interesting, especially considering D.A.R.Y.L. came first!
It's a heartfelt, entertaining film that deserves more recognition, and I'm grateful to have discovered it through this release. Vinegar Syndrome has done a fantastic job with the restoration, and the packaging and included extras are excellent as well. Another beautiful VSU release that gives an overlooked gem a chance to shine again!

I never thought in a million years VS would be the ones to put out this one. But here we are and I am glad they did. I have not seen this movie in decades and grabbed it when it was on sale. It is a kids film but back when most kids films had a good story and acting. We all know the story and plot. I think the one weak point of this movie is it is to short and it could have gone more into the science angle and more with the doctors so when stuff starts happening it isn't a sudden thing where someone turns sides etc etc.
There is also a decent doc on the making of the film which is ok. It touches on a lot but still not a great one that will give you all the interesting details you are looking for. it is about 50 min long and a one time watch.
If you are looking for a fun afternoon movie this is the disc to get.
