Metal teeth, chicken heads, and pure rural slasher insanity 😁
"Luther the Geek is one of those movies that sounds ridiculous on paper and somehow gets even weirder once you actually watch it. Luther coming out of prison with those metal teeth, barely talking, and basically stalking people like some feral animal gives the movie a really nasty, uncomfortable energy. What works for me is how stripped-down it is. No complicated mythology, no huge cast — just this bizarre killer roaming around, ugly violence, and a bleak rural atmosphere that makes the whole thing feel meaner than a lot of other slashers from the same period. The gore is surprisingly effective too, and the practical effects have that perfect late-’80s texture. Vinegar Syndrome’s 2K restoration from the original 35mm camera negative looks really good without cleaning away the grime, and the director commentary, cast interview, intro, trailer, and reversible art make the release feel properly complete. Weird, nasty, and impossible to confuse with anything else. Easy 5/5 for me. 😁"
