Voices of Desire + Fly Now, Pay Later

Dreamlike and haunting atmosphere in Voices of Desire, truly a unique little gem that I'm so glad to have AGFA introduce me to. Bizarre, creepy, and haunting... can't wait to check out the other feature.

I will buy any movie featuring Sandra Peabody, Cassell, etc....I can't say I was overly impressed by Voices of Desire as a movie. But what a Sandra Peabody time capsule this is! And she's looking terrific! I haven't viewed Fly Now, Play Later, yet. But I'm hearing it is the superior title in this double feature. Without Sandra *sigh* I dunno

Not nearly the same premise, but the vibes are there. Great deep deep cut from AGFA, and so amazing to see NYC at this time.

Effectively creepy when it decides to be, Despite the rolling about scenes feeling as though they run just a hair too long, the rest of the film instills a haunting tone between the sinister disembodied voices and Peabody's hypnotic use of the camera, creating a nightmare-like haze with bouts of horniness. There is a compelling notion at its core that I find fascinating, that of a "director" that never joins in but instead conducts a symphony of twisting bodies for his viewing, creating a haunting metaphor for filmmaking itself.

This is another fine restoration from the American Genre Film Archive and Something Weird, even though the source material here seems to have suffered considerable damage over time. Personally, I love it when a softcore film isn't afraid to delve into the strange and unexpected, and this one certainly goes all out. I really enjoyed the experience; it had been a long time since I’d appreciated one of their releases this much. We get an interesting glimpse into the kind of madness consuming the main character—who, incidentally, is particularly lovely—including a notably bizarre scene involving fruit. In my opinion, it's their best entry in a while.
