This listing is for the standard edition Blu-ray. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) was limited to 1,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.

VHSHITFEST has been uncovering and releasing movies on video for over a decade, across DVD and VHS, and is now moving into blu-ray, with the same goal to showcase the most unique, crazy, and obscure movies that they've discovered through years of collecting VHS, allowing even more people to actually be able to experience these nearly lost gems in the best versions possible.

When Dr. Walter Hall creates a drug that turns men into unstoppable beasts the government will stop at nothing to get it. Forced by the pressure of authority, Dr. Hall injects Jon, an unsuspecting bum, and unleashes a terror on the community. Five days in one man’s life gives him an eternity in hell when he reopened an old experiment, when he reopens… Vile 21! Made in the mid-90s by special effects veteran Mike Strain Jr., Vile 21 is an SFX tour de force of creatures, gore, stop motion, and rubber masks. VHSHITFEST is beyond excited to bring this regional obscurity to disc for the first time with a new edit transferred from the original master!

              Regional Monster-Movie Rescue

"Vile 21 is exactly the kind of regional VHS obscurity VHSHITFEST is built for: rough, strange, handmade, and much more memorable than its budget should allow. The setup of a drug experiment turning an unlucky drifter into an unstoppable beast is pure mid-90s video-shelf madness, but the real appeal is the effects work. Mike Strain Jr. clearly put everything into the creatures, gore, stop-motion bits, and rubber-mask weirdness, and that handmade energy gives the movie a personality you cannot fake. It is messy and very much of its world, but that is why it feels like a real discovery. The new edit from the original master, SDH subtitles, and extras make this feel like a proper rescue of something that could easily have stayed lost."

              A bit of a drag

"A bit of a drag at times with dialog heavy scenes, but the DIY effects are a joy to see. After a rough beginning it really picks up and my enjoyment of Vile 21 definitely left me satisfied. You can really tell this was made with major passion and the commentary does a good job of showing that."

              Tons of great extras, and

"Tons of great extras, and a really fun movie with far better effects than you usually see in such low budget film."

One Of My Favorite Slipcovers & A Really Fun Flick!

"The slipcover is awesome, as always with anything VS or their awesome partner Labels release! I saw it while perusing the VS website and had to have it! The title is quite interesting, and the narrative is spastic, yet really fascinating and fun to watch! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

              Entertaining

"I enjoyed this movie. It’s very low budget. The acting is pretty good. The effects are cheesy but not bad. I enjoyed the story. Entertaining for sure. Lots of fun"

              Oh man, Vile ’21 —

"Oh man, Vile ’21 — I bought this one just for that monster on the slipcover. That grotesque, leathery beast looming over everything had me at hello. Don’t even care about the rest of the movie — if it delivers half the nightmare fuel of that artwork, I’m in. Slip’s a trophy in its own right."

              Oliver T. (5/5)

              Good yes

"You see the name and the cover and you know what to expect but it good"
