Ennio (Stefan Sauk), a giallo-obsessed VHS collector with a drinking problem finds a highly collectable video tape that could solve his money problems and save him from eviction. He makes a deal with a shady, anonymous collector before realising the video has been stolen.

So begins Ennio’s desperate hunt for the black-gloved perpetrator while, along the way, he meets Simone (Lena Nilsson), an alcoholic woman obsessed with the 80s. His and Simone’s mutual love of nostalgia draws them together. As the search for the tape goes on, Ennio’s life turns into one of the giallo movies he likes to watch…

Alan Jones of FrightFest called it ”Dario Argento meets Mike Leigh”. Kristian A. Söderström’s feature film debut is a darkly comic, creepy and incredibly moving celebration of both gialli and social realism. Fans of genre cinema, art cinema, and collectors will find Videoman an absolute blast.

Unexpected Gem!

"I got this during a recent sale for a great price and overspent overall so I considered cancelling this one. Boy am I glad that I did not! One of the better movies I have watched recently. Blends a lot of elements including aspects about addiction, relationships, some mystery aspects. The sound and look of the movie is excellent. Highly recommended! The slipcover is also very nice, looks like a worn vhs."

Great atmosphere, cool packaging!

"I bought this one just from the packaging to be honest but ended up being a great film. Very cool watch, highly recommended and was very cheap on sale!"

Casey K. (4/5)

Cracking funny and creepy movie

"This film rocks, its funny and creepy. Ive owned this film before on a Dutch bluray, but this is an all round excellent bluray."

I am coining the term

"I am coining the term Skandialli."

Viedoman

"I really enjoyed this one. I give this a fifth star for giallo fans, because there are numerous references to giallo films including various actors and directors. I'm definitely the target audience in that respect. However, I think anyone reading this can relate to an addiction to physical media collecting and the films stands on its own, even if you don't get the giallo references. It is well made and the acting is particularly well done."

Drew G. (5/5)

Videoman killed the radio star

"This is a cool one. Was pretty surprised considering it was a purchase made entirely out of the tittle. I’m a sucker for the Ring, Video of the Dead and Video Killed the Radio Star; hell, even for Midnight Radio from Hedwig. The concept of video alludes me for some reason. Maybe it’s nostalgia, maybe it’s a reason based purely on the comedy of life and the hyperbole of the digital age."

John R. (5/5)

VHS Collertor beware

"A modern thriller for Argento and giallo fans. Another solid release. Love the cover art and slip cover on this one. Definite recommend"

Matt D. (5/5)

VideoFUN

"The description for this film was dead on and it’s everything I hoped for. I had a good time with it. Enjoyed it thoroughly."

Bryan O. (5/5)

VHS Lives
