True Crime Triple Ripper

3 crime thrillers/exploitation flicks of whcih the strong one is The ******: great photography, Texas massacre vibe, one location in real time hard-boiled yarn that deserves your full atention (and rewards it). Not so the other two, generally forgettable real crime movies.

The Safist was the best movie on here.

* This set is worth “******” alone!!

* Perfect transfer

* Cool slipcover

AGFA continues its winning streak with True Crime Triple Ripper, a collection of three tabloid shockers from the roughies era. The ******, a heavily fictionalized take on the Charlie Starkweather case, turns out to be a surprisingly well-made and intense standout feature. The Other Side of Bonnie and Clyde, while less successful, has its gutter charms. Lastly, The Zodiac Killer: Noir doesn’t offer much to owners of the previous AGFA release aside from the B&W color grading but it’s a fun novelty.

In keeping with the lurid tabloid style, the slipcover design does not miss. It’s bold, graphic, and eye-catching with the usual embossments and spot-gloss finishes. Aside from commentaries on the first two features, the extras are spare but sufficient. The LE has sold out but there are still 70 copies of the standard left at the time of writing.

Excellent exploitation
