Trouble Every Day is a haunting and deeply unsettling film that rewards patient viewers with an experience unlike most horror movies. Claire Denis favors atmosphere and psychological tension over traditional scares, creating a slow-burning story that lingers long after the credits roll. The performances are excellent, particularly Béatrice Dalle and Vincent Gallo, who bring vulnerability and menace to their complex characters. The film's themes of desire, obsession, and isolation are explored with striking visual style and confidence. While the deliberate pacing and minimal dialogue won't appeal to everyone, those willing to embrace its unconventional approach will find plenty to admire. Vinegar Syndrome's presentation is outstanding, featuring a beautiful restoration that highlights the film's rich cinematography, nuanced color palette, and immersive sound design. The supplemental features provide valuable insight into Denis's vision, making this release an essential upgrade for fans. It's challenging, memorable, and deserving of a strong four-star recommendation.
