A strange film: part avant-garde (in the style of the ’60s and ’70s, with a strong emphasis on formalism), part comedy, part erotic (in the style of that same era—there’s nudity, but it doesn’t veer into hardcore territory), all presented in stylized black and white that shows us a New York that no longer exists.
I was expecting a low-budget sexploitation flick like the hundreds that were made back then, but in the end, it’s a very interesting film.
The print is beautiful, and the disc includes a few bonus features: an audio commentary by the producer (which I haven’t listened to yet as I write this review) and a set of photos, including behind-the-scenes shots.
One of the two bonus trailers is in color (in the edited version, only the final animated sequence is in color). Did a color version ever exist?
In any case, it’s a discovery I highly recommend.

- MC35mm MemberMichael C.Verified Buyer2 weeks agoRated 4 out of 5 starsRidiculous (and fun) 70s sexploitation
Early 70s counterculture sexploitation madness from Nelson Lyon (one of the two last people to see John Belushi alive) starring Sarah Kennedy (70s TV staple) and Norman Rose (the voice of the Juan Valdez Coffee commercials). No kink shaming here, it's one for the freaks. Seriously though, a lot of it is very funny. Beautifully photographed. There's even a crazy little animated sequence at the end.

I didn’t know what to expect with this movie other than the general plot. This movie is such a fun time as you explore the weird, kinky side of 70s NYC along with Alice. The animated sequence at the end was insane and I still don’t know how I feel about it, but nonetheless, it’s like no movie I’ve seen before. I give it 4 stars because I thought the cutaways to people talking about their careers as dirty phone callers messed up the momentum. I think it should’ve opened with them instead.
