Glass Eye Pix is responsible for narrative films, documentaries, books, comics, audio plays, and other unique work designed to inspire and contrast with corporate media. Fessenden (winner of the Someone to Watch Spirit Award) has operated the company since 1985, with the mission of supporting individual voices in the arts.

Following a near-death car accident, four friends on their way to a Halloween wedding venture to a secluded farm for help. Little do they know, they will soon disturb an ancient evil with far more ghastly plans in store for them!

Reviews

Early Ti West horror flick

"This is a very cool release for a low budget, early Ti West directed horror film. The transfer looks really nice on this disc. Also, the artwork on the slipcover is amazing. I’d recommend this one to watch around Halloween."

Michael B. (5/5)

Effective independent horror film

"A solid high def transfer of Ti West’s low budget debut. It is gritty and a throwback to 70’s style grindhouse. It is a bleak atmosphere that begins and ends with an old school introduction and ending monologue fitting for TV horror shows hosts of the era. Presented in in reversible slipcover and artwork."

Timothy D. (5/5)

Early Ti West Film

"Creepy little film. If your a Ti West fan, you'd probably enjoy this one. The first 20 minutes or so does a good job putting it's hooks in you. Awesome artwork on the slipcover. Picture and audio is right on. Glad I own this one."

Shane R. (5/5)

I love anything Ti West

"I love anything Ti West and I'm so happy one of his early flicks has landed on this beautiful Blu Ray which looks great. Fantastic picture quality and even this early in his career you can tell that West has got it. It was great seeing the great Tom Noonan here too. Great little film in all aspects."

Bryan K. (5/5)

The Roost

"If this movie wasn’t from Ti West, I probably wouldn’t be watching it or evaluating it in the way that I am. Overall, it’s a very dull movie. Scenes that drag for no reason at all, a cast that has no chemistry between them whatsoever, and a premise that isn’t the least bit interesting. There is one hectic, bloody scene that was one of the best parts of the movie. There are moments of tension that work well in it, especially from a first time director. I’m glad Ti West was able to perfect these and build on subject matter that is way more engaging in his later work. The extras are pretty good, a couple of behind the scenes type of features. Also, insanely gorgeous art by the master Wes Benscoter, front and back. Unfortunately, one I won’t be revisiting any time soon."

Steven C. (2/5)

In the beginning…

"I am a fan of Ti west and love to get my hands of his early work ! The movie is a fun and engaging story with fun twists! The disc has good picture quality and sound and interesting extras ! A sure bye for fans ! As a fan of Larry Fessenden he is fantastic as usual ! Really nice slipp to 😁"

Patrick J. (5/5)

Early West

"The Roost is a scrappy, old-school horror that wears its love for grindhouse cinema on its sleeve. Ti West keeps things simple, building tension through atmosphere and practical effects rather than relying on big scares. It’s rough around the edges, but its throwback style and slow-burn approach give it a distinct charm for horror fans."

Shawn M. (3/5)

The Best THE ROOST Will Ever Look

"Ti West's debut isn't the best shot 16mm I've seen, but the charm and mood drips off the screen. Fun film with a fascinating BTS doc."

Jeff W. (5/5)

Ti West's feature debut finally gets a Blu-ray!

"Rabid bats attack and turn some of there victims into rabid zombies! How can you not love and/or get behind that concept?"

Thomas P. (5/5)

Atmospheric rabid bats

"Enjoyed this atmospheric early horror from Ti West. It has some decent characters and a great atmosphere. It was only let down by the cheap looking bat cg. It has a gorgeous looking slip cover with incredible art from Wes Bencotter. I hope they continue to use him as his work is incredible!"
