Had a blast being thoroughly disgusted by it
Once the black magic kicks in, it’s just one grotesque nightmare after another: body horror, self-mutilation, insects invading bodies, torture and enough centipedes to make me reconsider ever touching a wall again. The CGI can be rough, but Kimo Stamboel has a real talent for staging horrifying images, and the sheer nastiness of the practical effects more than makes up for it. The slow-burn setup gives way to an almost exhausting barrage of cruelty.
