Description

Working out of an abandoned hangar at a small regional airport in East Los Angeles, Germán Alonso surrounds himself in a Gilliam-esque fantasy world, expressing his vision the only way he knows how: making phantasmagorical films with help from his friends, family and hundreds of handmade puppets.

But when a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity comes along to adapt a feature-length version of his college thesis film, about a Mexican immigrant-turned-cyborg named “MexMan” — Alonso’s own superpowers begin to strain, as creative conflicts emerge with his producers and an old crush reappears.

Welcome to THE LEGEND OF MEXMAN, the (almost) unbelievable outsider-turned-hero tale that Film Threat calls “One of the great stand-up-and-cheer underdog sagas of all time.”

Fun, Different Kind Of Movie
I tend to gravitate towards foreign films, and this one had a really cool slipcover and looked interesting. It is a fun watch and a very unique Mexican flick! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!

Watched this twice. After watching once. I thought about it into the next day. And had to watch again. This may be one I revisit regularly.
