The Last Slumber Party

The Last Slumber Party is incredibly cheap, awkward, and at times barely seems to know how a movie is supposed to work, but I found that strangely fascinating. The performances are bizarre, the pacing is all over the place, and there are moments that feel like they came from another planet. Yet there is something genuinely charming about seeing people simply go out and make a slasher movie with whatever they had available. I am not sure I could call it good, but I certainly won’t forget it. This is exactly the kind of regional filmmaking oddity that AGFA was made to preserve.

Have you ever watched a movie where you see a clip of a fictional slasher film the characters have rented, like "Prom Queen Mutilator" in Benny & Joon or "Groundhog Day Part XII" in Monster Squad, and been desperate to see the whole thing? Because this feels exactly like if one of those stretched to feature length.

Great release fun flick

Three annoying girls plan a slumber party and invite three annoying dudes over. Turns out a homicidal psycho just escaped from the hospital not too far from the festivities. What The Last Slumber Party lacks in logic and competence, it makes up for in charm and vibes. The Last Slumber Party might not be a great horror flick, but it sure as **** a fun one. . .

When you're not sure if it's surreal or ******, you know you're in weird territory. The killer, wearing scrubs, reminded me of Peter Steele, because Type O Negative wore scrubs when I saw them back in 2003. Crappy, but interesting movie.
