This listing is for the standard edition Blu-ray/DVD combo. The limited edition slipcover (designed by Earl Kessler Jr.) was limited to 4,000 units and is sold out. The two versions are identical, aside from the slipcover.

Candy, a teenage heiress to a large fortune, is kidnapped by a trio of small time criminals on her way home from Catholic school. After burying her alive in an unmarked grave, the trio attempts to extort Candy's father, a wealthy jeweler, for a hefty ransom. But, what seemed like a simple, straightforward kidnapping soon spirals out of control with violent consequences and Candy's only hope for survival is a young mute boy who knows where she is buried.

Unflinchingly dark, violent, and merciless all the way through its notorious final shot, THE CANDY SNATCHERS remains one of the seminal pieces of early ‘70s cult filmmaking. The only theatrical feature directed by acclaimed screenwriter Guerdon Trueblood (Welcome Home Soldier Boys; Jaws 3-D), THE CANDY SNATCHERS stars Tiffany Bolling (Wicked Wicked), Ben Piazza (The Blues Brothers), Vince Martorano (Kojak), and Susan Sennett as Candy. Exquisitely shot by Robert Maxwell (Blood Mania), Vinegar Syndrome presents this key piece of drive-in cinema on Blu-ray for the very first time, newly restored in 4K from it’s camera negative.

SKU: VS-302

"This is it! Imho the best movie ever to be released by VS! Some years ago there was a polll in the official VS facebook group and Candy Snatchers won for being the best VS release ever. A lot has changed since then and VS put out some heavy lifters. But I would still call this my favorite VS release ever. Yeah, by today's standards it's nothing special packagewise. But the movie itself is so good and the included extras so valueable and fun. Drive-In goddess Tiffany Bolling gives a performance for the ages and looks soooo mighty good here. All other actors are very good too and the plot is very suspenseful and engaging. This is an explitation film with some shocking scenes, but much more clever than most other drive-in fare. I used to own the DVD and sold it years ago, as it was worth a ton of cash. When VS announced it as one of their Black Friday suprise titles, I was naturally in heaven. It's a shame that this is OOP now, but maybe a UHD is on the horizon? Who knows?"

Candy Snatchers

"The twist is what really makes this one stand out, taking the story in some unexpectedly dark directions. The quality of the release is solid, and the features are a nice bonus for anyone who appreciates obscure ’70s exploitation horror."

Carl E. (5/5)

Incredible, unique mastepiece

"Wow. . . what a movie. So hard to classify. . . intriguing at every turn, with probably the greatest performance by a 5 year old actor. Just an incredible film. Lost a star for the 2 unnecessary explicit rape scenes. . . otherwise, a flawless 70s movie"

Michael L. (4/5)

Great Release for a Brilliant Film

"An amazing film that effortlessly incorporates brilliant dark comedy into its cynical narrative. This high quality release has a great looking transfer and various special features that easily make it worth buying."

William H. (5/5)

Candy Snatchers

"Directed by Guerdon Trueblood, the film is an unflinchingly dark, violent, and merciless cult classic. It follows a trio of small-time criminals who kidnap a teenage heiress named Candy and bury her alive in an unmarked grave to extort her father. Her only hope for survival is a young mute boy who stumbles upon her location"

Zach S. (5/5)

70s Exploitation Masterpiece

"A sordid kidnapping tale laced with violence and sleaze, The Candy Snatchers is one of the gems in the vast VS catalogue, and it's a real shame to see it go OOP. If you missed out, be sure to pick it up before it gets too expensive - you won't regret it."

Kyle S. (5/5)

70s Cult Cinema Candy!

"Dark. Divisive. Mean-spirited. And so 70s cult cinema. I really treasure this dark gem and Vinegar Syndrome Blu Ray edition is the only way to watch it. Vyn Sin is known for giving attention to films that need rescuing and need to be in the conversation of modern cinema and forgotten influences."

Aaron B. (5/5)

A entertaining release that actually

"A entertaining release that actually had me giggling way more than it should have! Audio commentary is particularly informative on this one"

Charles S. (4/5)

Bitter Candy

"Not exactly what I was expecting, i. e. a Last House on the Left clone. Lots of drama, quite slow-paced. Beautiful cover."

massimiliano m. (3/5)

Gritty little thriller

"This is a little-seen classic that I am so happy Vinegar Syndrome rescued from obscurity. A tough and gritty slice of exploitation, this looks great and delivers the goods."
