The Amityville Curse is one of the stranger entries in the franchise, and that’s exactly why I like it. Instead of just copying the original movie again, it leans into creepy-house atmosphere, family tension, supernatural weirdness, and that slightly grimy Canadian horror feel.

Kim Coates is always fun to watch, and the movie has a nice slow-burn quality where things gradually get more unsettling instead of throwing everything at you right away. It’s definitely an oddball Amityville movie, but I’d rather have something weird and different than another straight repeat of the same formula.

The Blu-ray looks really solid too. Canadian International Pictures scanned it in 2K from the original 35mm camera negative, and the interviews, commentary, booklet, and reversible artwork give the release a lot more substance than I expected.

And the Wes Benscoter variant slipcover is killer — loud artwork, great colors, and confirmed spot gloss. It was limited to 2,000 copies, so this one feels like a proper collector edition.

Weird franchise entry, strong atmosphere, great packaging. Easy 5/5 for me. 😁

Couldn't really get into this one; but there are some excellent Kim Coates moments (smoking and being a psycho killer)
