    Awesome true indie

"Fantastically low-budget flick with a striking visual flair and some awesome and exciting ideas. Awesome art for this release, and the bonus movies on here are really cool, too!"

    Tony H. (5/5)

    It's not the best

"I want to support trans creators and this film isn't Alice Maio Mackay's best film. Her film Bad Girl Boogey is included on the disk as well as two shorts - Howl of the Werewolf and The Serpent's Nest. I really enjoyed Howl of the Werewolf and if you want to support this creator, get it for that short."

    Jenny M. (3/5)

    Love it

"Alice is such a great filmmaker, so happy to see Dark Star release this."

    Oliver H. (5/5)

    VS is for the weirdos!

"I originally hopped onto VS to pre-order their new release of Tank Girl, but I was even more excited to see they were selling physical discs of T-Blockers; an Australian independent trans horror movie. It's wonderful to see a big distributor of physical cult media making niche genre films by marginalized creators accessible. That alone makes me a loyal VS customer!"

    Rowan W. (5/5)

    Interesting flick

"Low budget but well done visually. Looks great even if sound has some issues but not a big distraction."

    Bruce K. (4/5)

    An actual teenage(ish) apocalypse

"Great pairing with the Araki set from Criterion - even without being named as an inspiration, you can see the fingerprints of his influence all over this flick. The visuals, the art direction, the centering of queer stories, it's all a unique ride that you won't get from mainstream movies."

    Kelsey G. (4/5)

A smart movie that hits close to home

"This is unapologetically queer and an amazing lens of what it's like to be trans in current times. I don't think everyone will get the writing depending on your life experience. If you do have any type of queer experience (or honestly if you're just female in any way) it will hit very close to home about our experiences. They made magic with a small budget and you can tell there was a lot of heart put into this."

    Cherry M. (5/5)

    Trans classics!

"Both this flick and the bonus Bad Girl Boogey are instant underground queer classics."

    Thomasin G. (5/5)

    T-Blockers

"Alice Maio Mackay’s micro‑budget vision thrives on DIY energy, mixing camp, satire, and raw urgency."

    Pierre L. (3/5)

    Absolutely rules

"Cue me instantly trying to track down everything else Alice Maio Mackay has made. One of the most impressive things about this wild, low-budget, spatter punk ride, is how warm and affecting it is at heart (the central characters are really endearing); and its the juxtaposition of these two sensibilities that make this movie so special. Bonus points 'cause this release also includes one of Mackay's previous films 'Bad Girl Boogey' (which is also fun) as an extra."
