Spirit Riser" is a hyper-colored fever dream that proves you don’t need a Marvel budget to build a multiverse; you just need enough DIY audacity to power a small city. Director Dylan Mars Greenberg delivers a "projectile rainbow vomit of ideas" that feels like a communal ritual for the weirdos, the queers, and the underground purists.
The film is an absolute microbudget masterpiece that thrives on its "unabashedly low-budget" aesthetic, blending dizzying 2D animation with surrealist live-action sequences. Watching Michael Madsen and Cherie Currie navigate this "electrifying acid bath" of a plot is pure cult-cinema magic, while Patti Harrison provides the kind of comedic energy that cements this as an instant cult classic
