Description

Written and produced by Bong Joon-ho (PARASITE, SNOWPIERCER, THE HOST), SEA FOG is a maritime thriller that captures the essence of why he is considered on of the most talented filmmakers working today. Upon learning that his decaying fishing trawler, the Junjin, is about to be sold, Captain Kang looks to make one final score by smuggling illegal immigrants from China to South Korea. After arriving at the agreed pickup point, a violent storm forces the Junjin to stall in open waters. As tension and unrest spread, Kang and his five-man crew find themselves pitted against their desperate passengers – all while an ominous fog envelops the ship and everyone onboard.

    A wonderful surprise!

Do yourself a favor: go into Sea Fog knowing as little as possible. Part of the fun here is watching the movie jump tones and genres - it's a tricksy beast, this movie, and one where you definitely feel the presence of co-screenwriter Bong Joon-Ho. But suffice to say, it's very adept at juggling elements of social realism, disaster movie, men-on-a-mission thriller, heist picture, and horror movie.

    Underrated!

Directed by the screenwriter of *Memories of Murder* and written by Bong Joon-ho, *Sea Fog* displays the same mastery found in Bong Joon-ho’s own films. It is a devastating, true-story-based noir thriller that leaves no one indifferent.
