Redlands

Redlands is one of those movies that gets under your skin without doing anything flashy. It’s slow, intimate, and increasingly uncomfortable as the lives of these three damaged people start crossing in uglier and uglier ways.

Nicole Fox is really strong, and I liked how the movie captures that Inland Empire emptiness — sun-bleached streets, cheap apartments, strip malls, and people trying to convince themselves they’re going somewhere when they really aren’t. The whole thing has this tense, alienated neo-noir vibe that feels very specific to Southern California.

The Blu-ray is a nice package too. You get an extended scene, deleted scene, a whole collection of John Brian King shorts, trailer, booklet, and captions, so there’s a lot more here than just the feature.

Definitely not a “fun” movie, but it stuck with me. Cold, raw, and way more disturbing than I expected. Easy 5/5 for me.

looks great

This awesome flick is a slow burn throughout the entire movie! It's like a cannon shot in slow motion repeatedly resurfacing! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!

This one feels like a genuinely rewarding pickup: the Blu‑ray gives the film’s sun‑bleached dread and slow‑burn tension a clarity that really deepens its impact. Vinegar Syndrome’s restoration work lets the rough, intimate texture breathe without sanding down its rawness, and the disc feels like the ideal way to experience the film’s unsettling mood. It’s the kind of purchase that reminds you why boutique labels matter—an obscure title elevated into something striking and memorable.

Redlands is one of those quiet, intense movies that sneaks up on you. The characters feel real, and the story keeps you guessing without any big flashy moments. It’s the kind of film that lingers in your mind after you’re done watching.
