Description

Welcome to the 1980s TV horrorshow that never was . . . again. Set around Halloween, PHANTASMATAPES II is a psychotronic VHS mixtape that reimagines ATOM AGE VAMPIRE (an Italian mutation of Georges Franju's EYES WITHOUT A FACE) and DON'T LOOK IN THE BASEMENT (the gritty proto-slasher from filmmaker S.F. Brownrigg) as a late-nite, home-taped double feature—complete with local TV commercials and a new synthesizer score from Taken by Savages (JUNGLE TRAP). Inspired by hazy memories of channel-surfing at the witching hour, this is a nostalgic and experimental art project from the minds behind Bleeding Skull.

For even more midnight chills, grab a bundle featuring the PHANTASMATAPES II synthesizer soundtrack on cassette—limited to just 100 copies.

    Fun

The feature earns 6/10 from me, with much of that weighted toward the Brownrigg half of the program. I'm not a huge fan of all the Ziemba mixtape stuff, but this collaboration is easily entertaining. The release itself earns higher numbers for including full versions of both films, the brainmelting THE PROFESSOR & GRAVE ROBBING FOR MORONS. Wowee!
