Description

Chester, a cartoonist, and Sonny, a TV host - are a long-term, committed romantic couple. When Sonny introduces the idea of opening up their relationship, Chester begins sleeping with sex workers, forcing him to face his issues with intimacy and romance in the process.

Based on the best-selling graphic novel by acclaimed alternative-cartoonist Chester Brown, Paying For It is a “provocative, hilarious and heartfelt” (The Globe and Mail) personal take on romance and relationships. From writer/director Sook-Yin Lee, the film “displays a maturity and thoughtfulness (...) in the messy contradictions we may hold about love” (RogerEbert.com).

    Paying For It

PAYING FOR IT is against graphic literature that examines the life of a “John” and gives an argument about the nature of *** workers and adult relationships. This film keeps with that spirit. Reminiscent of high quality graphic literature adaptations such as AMERICAN SPLENDOR and GHOST WORLD this film is a funny, quirky and poignant feature.

    Based on Chester Brown’s amazing,

Based on Chester Brown’s amazing, if controversial, graphic novel about his relationship with prostitutes, this film captures the feel of the book without being completely in its service. A great release and worth the watch, even if you aren’t familiar with the source material.
