Nightsiren really worked for me because it never feels like it’s trying to be a conventional horror movie. The remote mountain village, old superstitions, family trauma, witchcraft accusations, and the way the locals turn on Šarlota all give the movie this slow, uneasy atmosphere that just keeps getting heavier.
Natalia Germani is great, and I liked how the movie keeps you wondering how much of what’s happening is supernatural and how much is fear, memory, and people projecting their own beliefs onto someone they don’t understand. It’s creepy without needing constant jump scares, and the folk-horror vibe sticks with you after it ends.
The limited slipcover is a big part of why I wanted this edition too. Corrine Halbert’s artwork fits the movie perfectly — strange, colorful, and just unsettling enough. It was limited to 1,000 copies, so it also feels like a genuinely special little release.
Beautiful, eerie, and a lot more thoughtful than I expected. Easy 5/5 for me. 😁
