My Sole Desire

A blind buy that was solid gold.

Great cinematography and great performances.

Another solid Film Movement release.

Highly recommended!

Have you ever been to a strip club? But you've already wanted to - at least once - you didn't dare, that's all. This film tells the story of someone who dared.

Lucie Borleteau’s My Sole Desire offers an intimate, unflinching portrait of life inside a Paris strip club. Newcomer Manon (Louise Chevillotte) arrives seeking quick money and soon finds herself drawn into the world of sensual performance under the stage name Aurore. Guided by fellow dancer Mia (Zita Hanrot), an aspiring actress living a double life, Manon navigates the club’s rules, risks, and unexpected emotional connections. As professional boundaries dissolve, questions of identity and desire rise to the surface.

Anchored by strong, naturalistic performances and a clear-eyed feminine perspective, the film treats its subject with honesty rather than exploitation. Borleteau captures both the camaraderie among the performers and the quiet tensions that emerge when personal feelings complicate the work.

The Blu-ray release, issued in partnership with Film Movement, presents the 2022 French drama in a solid Region A edition with French DTS-HD MA 5. 1 audio and English subtitles. Extras include the director’s short film The Belly Strike, deleted scenes, and actress audition footage. For viewers interested in thoughtful adult drama that prioritizes character over sensationalism, this is a worthwhile addition to the collection.

Great release of a great movie. Packaging is super cool and the restoration is spot on.

Great drama, worth a look
