Memorial Valley Massacre

Memorial Valley Massacre is one of those early eighties oddities that feels like it wandered out of a dusty rental shelf and into the present day with its head held high. The movie itself is a mix of campground mayhem, rubbery menace, and the kind of earnest performances that make regional slashers so strangely endearing. It is not polished, but it has personality, and that is half the fun with a title like this.

The Blu Ray release gives the film a welcome second life. The picture quality is far cleaner than anyone who saw it on late‑night television would expect. Colors look steadier, the outdoor scenes have more depth, and the transfer preserves the grain without letting it overwhelm the image. It is the sort of upgrade that lets you appreciate the quirks of the production rather than squint through them.

The Blu Ray art leans into the film’s pulpy charm. Bold colors, dramatic poses, and a slightly exaggerated sense of danger capture exactly what the movie promises. It is the kind of cover that would have jumped off a video‑store wall, daring you to take it home.

As a release, it feels surprisingly thoughtful. The presentation respects the film’s scrappy origins while giving it the clarity and shelf presence it never had in its original run. For fans of deep‑cut slashers, it is a satisfying resurrection.

Nice to have another "holiday" slasher film for the library.

The love child of Chuka from Land of the Lost, and Feral Kid from The Road Warrior kills campers. This feels almost like a made for TV movie. Lacking in exploitation elements, it could almost be PG rated. It's decent, but could've been a lot better. Very thin on extras. But the restoration looks excellent.

Not many Memorial Day themed horror options, so this one does the trick.
