Luther the Geek

Fun horror movie from 1990. Thus is a great upgrade release. Highly recommended

I got this to make sure I had an absolutely terrible movie to show my friends. I mean a real stinker. And I felt such mixed feelings when it was actually good, because that wasn't the deal I signed on for. But this works so much better than it has any right to. I'm not crazy about the standard cover, but I do love the limited edition slip.

This is the best director's introduction I've ever seen to their home release. The movie itself is one of my guilty pleasures but that intro is one of the funniest extras I've zseen in years.

Luther the Geek is bleak, mean and unforgettable in the exact way a late 80s rural slasher should be. The childhood carnival trauma, the chicken-biting geek angle and those razor-sharp metal teeth make Luther feel like a folk monster dragged into a grimy exploitation film. Carlton Albright keeps it nasty, and the gore has a blunt force that still lands. Vinegar Syndrome's restoration from the 35mm negative gives the film a clean widescreen presentation without losing its backwoods ugliness. A great release for anyone who likes slashers with a genuinely weird hook.

Discovered this movie as a child via Fangoria. Now it is mine. Can't say it is the best movie but definitely entertained me. Looks and sounds better than it should. Vinegar Syndrome along with Arrow seem to be the best in the business.
