Lucky is a clever horror flick that takes a familiar home-invasion setup and turns it into something much stranger. The repeating attacks create an increasingly surreal sense of frustration and dread, while the story gradually reveals a sharp commentary on the dangers and pressures women are expected to navigate.
The overall quality of the release is excellent. The picture is clean and detailed, with strong contrast that works especially well during the film's darker sequences. The presentation complements the deliberately unsettling atmosphere.
The slipcover is also a great collector touch. The artwork fits the movie's unusual tone and gives the release some extra shelf presence.
Overall, Lucky is an inventive genre film that offers more to think about than a conventional slasher while still delivering suspense and some memorable horror moments.
