This movie came out when I was 12 years old. I had a giant crush on both lead actress’s Kristy McNichol and Tatum O’Neal. Can’t tell you how many times I watched it on cable tv.
Took 40 years for this to be put on physical media apparently:
The film had one of the longest jumps in home video formats, approximately 40 years. Licensing rights problems resulted in a number of songs being removed from its videocassette and laserdisc releases. The songs were replaced with sound alike songs. Efforts to restore the original soundtrack delayed future domestic home video and streaming releases until 2023, when boutique label Vinegar Syndrome released a 4K UHD special edition in 2023.
…..
Vinegar Syndrome did a great job on this release . Movies made in the 70’s just were different. Lot of scenes in Meatballs, Uncle Buck and other 80’s classics were definitely taken from this film. I am glad I bought this, lots of nostalgia for me.
I can’t recommend this for everyone, it’s definitely a 70’s chick flick.
Film debut of Cynthia Nixon
Second film for Matt Dillon
Great job on getting the music right!!

I finally watched Little Darlings, the first release in the Cinématographe line. What an absolute masterpiece. It had been sitting on my shelf for a long time, and I thoroughly enjoyed it. Compared to other teen comedies of that era, this one stands head and shoulders above the rest. The performances are beautiful, and it honestly made me reminisce about my own days at summer camp. It is wonderfully shot and directed, and Vinegar Syndrome provided perfect picture and audio quality. Truly great!

This flick of coming of age film is superb and was stuck on vhs format. Finally on 4k bluray to own. The form of the film is of its era and in today's world it would have been an uproar. The dialogue of the film in ways these girls talk is ahead of its time. Highly recommended it to own.

Loooooved it. As an almost 40 year old man, I’ve probably never related more to a bunch of characters in a movie. The awkwardness and anxiety you carry with every interaction in your teens is perfectly captured here. Full of empathy and compassion, for every character is so beautiful.
