Deadpan Detective Comedy Gem
"Inspector Ike is a charmingly deadpan comedy oddity, and the lost-70s-TV-movie angle is more than just a gimmick. The Columbo-meets-The Naked Gun setup gives it a great rhythm: a theater-world murder, a smug understudy, visual gags, awkward pauses, gross food, and a detective who treats every absurd detail with total seriousness. Ikechukwu Ufomadu is the perfect center for it, and the supporting cast gives the whole thing that scrappy New York comedy energy without making it feel overworked. The extras are also unusually fun, especially the Graham Mason commentary, the Words With Ike episodes, booklet, recipe card, short film, and reversible artwork. A smart, weird, very likable release that feels handmade in the best way."

"I was introduced to Ikechukwu Ufomadu through his hilarious short series Words With Ike, which aired as part of the alt-comedy block CAKE on FX. Getting to spend 83 minutes with him in a note-perfect Columbo send-up, complete with appearances from every NY comic you've ever seen on Instagram, was a treat.
