"An interesting movie with a fresh perspective and a lot to think about."
"Great film with a compelling narrative and a look at a culture that is not really touched on in cinema very much"
"I Am Not a Witch is a darkly satirical and visually striking film that tells the story of a young girl accused of witchcraft in rural Zambia. The film blends humor and tragedy in a way that highlights the absurdity and cruelty of superstition, while the lead performance is quietly unforgettable. It’s both heartbreaking and thought-provoking, leaving a lasting impression long after it ends."
"Wow, this is really a remarkable little film that covers a lot of ground in 93 minutes, full of comedy, political commentary, and tragedy. Highly engaging and watchable. A+ release, with a beautiful understated slipcover designed by Jillian Adel."
"A hard hitting debut feature that is timeless. Wonderful performances and great cinematography. Very Highly Recommended"
"The packaging is incredible. I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've heard amazing things! I'm yet to be let down by anything I've seen from VinSyn or any of their partner labels."
"A fascinatingly singular piece of work. Rungano Nyoni creates an utterly unique cinematic language and rules and then spends the next 90 minutes slowly bending those rules until they break. Also has the funniest ringtone ever used in a movie."
"Great movie"
"I am always eager to check out films coming out of Africa, as there are usually so few of them released in the US and the few I have seen have been very good. The film does a very good job of showing the social and political struggles in Zambia, all while being shot with some great cinematography that shows the African towns and countryside. It also shows the age-old problem of people holding ridiculous beliefs and forcing their prejudices on others, as well as the oppression of women. The acting, especially from the young girl who is the main focus, is very good. Although there are some heavy underlying issues to be dealt with, there are also some light-hearted and funny moments. Overall, a very good movie and well worth a watch."
"Glad to add such a beautiful edition of this to my collection--so many African titles hardly get any kind of physical release these days."
