Nacho and Mauricio are friends, but their competitive nature has them at each other's throats. After an embarrassing defeat, Mauricio comes up with one last bet to settle the score. When a number of gory bear attacks are reported in the paper, the boys decide whoever can kill the deadly beast will be declared the macho-est man of them all. With girlfriends and sidekicks in tow they venture out for the ultimate hunt, but when they start getting attacked and mutilated they realize they’ve gone from being the hunters to the hunted! And the bear they thought they’d catch may be something more sinister than they could have ever dreamed…

Hell's Trap, a limited edition horror film, impresses with its elaborate kills, gory tension, and unique artwork. While some find the acting mixed, the film is highly recommended for its entertaining and innovative take on the slasher genre. The Blu-ray release includes excellent bonus features and a haunting, low-budget aesthetic.

"Hell’s Trap is a rather generic slasher movie from Mexico. The plot is essentially a horror version of First Blood, which in and of itself is an interesting twist in the genre. However nothing much else elevates it to a super memorable status. It is worth noting though that the killer does have a really cool look even if they don't do much with the character."
"Very silly slasher type film from Mexico. Sadly it didn't receive a dub, but to be honest you could watch it with the subs off and make up your own story (a lot of it is told visually anyway). At only 76 minutes the film doesn't outstay it's welcome, which makes a pleasant change having seen a lot of 100-120 minute movies recently. I got this as part of my sub, but I sold that because as nice as the slipcover was, I actually much prefer the Trampa Infernal artwork on the reverse of the Blu Ray cover. It has a cool 80s score with a catchy theme. I couldn't say if the acting is particularly good, given that I don't speak the language, but it's a pretty well made film. I have to wonder about a decision the killer takes near the end which verges upon moronic, but it's just that type of movie really!"

"Hell’s Trap is a hoot. Does it break any new ground? Not really. Yet it does manage to occasionally subvert expectations (a final girl with a mean right hook; a bumbling fat guy who turns out to be quite resourceful) and rearrange the usual tropes into a fun slasher/survival thriller hybrid. Not much is explained about the killer’s motivations or backstory and at a deliriously brisk 75 minutes, it's to the movie’s benefit. The extras are pretty slight which is unusual for a more recent VS release, less than 30 minutes of cast and crew interviews and no audio commentary. Still, the slip and reversible cover art are cool. Grab one next sale. It's the best time you'll have watching a backwoods psycho with a Freddy Krueger glove and a Julian Sands mask."
