While assisting on a dig, a construction worker accidentally destroys the final resting place of a demonic zombie, rousting him from his unholy slumber, and reigniting his taste for human flesh. Meanwhile, a group of teenagers have decided to spend the night camping in the woods for a Halloween hayride, only to have their partying interrupted with the arrival of an ever-growing army of bloodthirsty undead! A lo-fi gore epic directed by actor and cinematographer Bill Hinzman (The Crazies), star zombie in the classic Night of the Living Dead, FLESHEATER (aka Revenge of the Living Dead) is a fitting tribute and homage to Romero’s chilling masterpiece, updating the setting to the late 1980s while piling on the gut munching, throat ripping, and limb tearing action. "FleshEater is basically Bill Hinzman taking his cemetery zombie from Night of the Living Dead and building an entire low-budget gore movie around that vibe. It’s rough, simple, and unapologetically trashy — exactly what I want from this kind of late-’80s regional horror. The movie wastes very little time once the zombies get loose, and the practical gore is the big attraction for me. Torn flesh, messy kills, shambling corpses, and that cold Pennsylvania atmosphere give the whole thing a great homemade horror feel. It’s not polished, but the lack of polish is part of the charm. The 4K remaster is the real surprise. All that grain, makeup work, and grimy location shooting gets a huge upgrade without making the movie look unnaturally clean. The extras also give the release a lot more value, especially for something that started life as such a scrappy regional production. Cheap zombie movie? Absolutely. Fun as hell and exactly the kind of oddball horror I want preserved on 4K? Yep. 😁"

Flesheater. Eat or be eaten!

"Flesheater is often forgotten in the long list of 80s zombie films, only a select people remember this one. I had it as part of a old DVD boxset and at the time really liked it. I finally decided to bite the bullet and upgrade and while the film looks great, the only thing it had going for me was the gore and kills. It's pretty boring to me, doesn't really move the needle much but for the price I paid i can't complain. I did like the one extra I watched about the makeup, always love stuff like that."

"Fantastic slice of Philly flavored zombie gore flick directed by and starring the legendary Bill Hinzman and featuring various family members and locals. Given the shoestring budget the quality of the kills are quite impressive. For better or worse the acting is as bad as expected, but the rural atmosphere is fantastic, the plot is decent and it moves along at a steady pace. Shoutout to the opening credits done by Rick Catizone of Creepshow/Evil Dead II fame The bonus interviews are quite informative, you can tell everyone loved Bill and working on the film. The behind the scenes gallery is of note as it is truly extensive. Have only gotten to see the Blu Ray but the Transfer looks great Over all a solid blind buy and highly recommended for those looking for some rural lo-fi gory zombie goodness."
