Visually it's a **** of a lot of fun as every character takes themselves highly seriously while romping about in dime store costumes, but narratively it's not incredibly deep, losing interest as it goes. More of a novelty than a fully satisfying film, and probably a minor miracle that it still exists.

scenes of nature frolicking in Taiwanese folklore tale. Beautiful package from klubb super 8.

A really nice restoration of a very influential movie from Taiwan. . . that is weirdly childish and mature. Its a nice piece of history

This is sort of like a local cable access show presentation of a film called The Fantasy of The Deer Warrior, if that makes any sense. Maybe it doesn't! It is pretty weird and I loved costumes. Feels like it's aimed at children but has that dark undercurrent (murderous wolf!) that all good classic kids movies have. Missing some video and audio but I imagine this is as good as it gets and we're probably lucky it exists at all.

A very weird and cool folk tale here, totally original, love it! The slipcover is beautiful.
