Ebola Syndrome is one of those movies that's absolutely insane from start to finish, but that's what makes it so much fun. It's outrageous, disturbing, and completely over the top, making it a memorable experience for fans of extreme Hong Kong cinema. I've always enjoyed this crazy little gem, so seeing it arrive on 4K for the first time is fantastic.
I was happy to snag the previously sold-out slipcover during Vinegar Syndrome's Labor Day sale when the OOP edition returned. The packaging looks fantastic, and the release comes packed with great special features that make it even more worthwhile.

Ebola Syndrome is absolutely disgusting, offensive, hilarious, and somehow impossible to look away from. Anthony Wong goes completely feral as Kai, and the movie just keeps finding new ways to make him worse. Every time I thought it had reached the bottom, Herman Yau somehow found another basement. 😂
What I love about it is how committed it is. The gore, sleaze, black comedy, disease panic, and general bad taste are all cranked up so high that the movie becomes its own kind of deranged experience. It’s definitely not for everybody, but if you like Hong Kong exploitation at its nastiest, this is essential.
The 4K presentation really lets all that grime and practical nastiness shine, and the limited slipcover fits the movie perfectly. The extras make the release feel like a proper celebration of one of the most infamous Cat III movies ever made instead of just another catalog upgrade.
Repulsive? Absolutely. Entertaining as ****? Also absolutely. Easy 5/5 for me. 😁
