"Frank Vitale's 1976 Montreal revenge saga is a genuine sleeper, and Canadian International Pictures' 4K scan from the original 35mm camera negative makes a strong case for it. The film's raw urgency and bruised humanity land harder than the genre usually allows, and the extra package (commentary, new interviews with Vitale and Lloyd Kaufman, a booklet essay by Alexandra Heller-Nicholas) treats it accordingly."
