The American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) represents the world's largest theatrical catalog of exploitation cinema. Their home video line presents a diverse selection of movies, ranging from new preservations of classics from the vast library of Something Weird to the wildest in shot-on-video (SOV) titles. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

What’s the best way to prevent young people from destroying their lives in a downward spiral of drug-fueled jubilation? Obviously, the answer is sentient LSD tabs, spiders on speed, and an ex-junkie named Florrie Fisher (the real-life inspiration for Amy Sedaris’s Jerri Blank character on STRANGERS WITH CANDY) berating them into submission. THE SCARE FILM ARCHIVES VOLUME 1: DRUG STORIES! collects the best-of-the-best educational drug-scare films from the twentieth century. Lovingly curated from Something Weird’s vaults, AGFA and Something Weird are thrilled to present 2K preservations of these bad trips, bummers, and flip-outs, all from original 16mm prints that were inflicted upon children in classrooms across the country.

Includes new 2K preservations of these uncut scare film classics:
BEYOND LSD; THE BOTTLE AND THE THROTTLE; CURIOUS ALICE; THE DISTANT DRUMMER; DRUGS, DRINKING, AND DRIVING; LSD: INSIGHT OR INSANITY; LSD 25; NARCOTICS THE DECISION: GOOFBALLS AND TEA; NONE FOR THE ROAD; THE TRIP BACK with Florrie Fisher; USERS ARE LOSERS.

Plus: DRUG STORIES! NARCOTIC NIGHTMARES AND HALLUCINOGENIC HELLRIDES, a full-length mixtape from the AGFA team!

Stephen T. (4/5)

Such Infotainments!

"I am old enough to remember awkward educational films of this type, but by the time I was a teenager, not even a hard ass teacher could keep control of a class watching a drug scare film. I almost respect the care and attention it took to create these mis-info-tainment movies. All dark fascist minds need to do now is throw out a few robo-tweets to start a false narrative. Hooray film!"

William N. (5/5)

Amazing

"A great time capsule piece - hope AGFA keeps these comps coming,"

Frank M. (5/5)

Reefer

"absolute goldmine of unintentionally hilarious 20th-century classroom propaganda."

Kevin G. (5/5)

Andre E. (5/5)

Fun. . .

". . . . and funny"

Benjamin P. (4/5)

Get high with this

"AGFA's release gathers 11 late '60s–early '70s anti-drug shorts, plus a smart "mixtape" edit highlighting the campiest misinformation. Highlights: the trippy, ironically pro-drug Curious Alice (animated/live-action Wonderland riff). A ridiculously entertaining batch of drug-scare propaganda."
