Boardinghouse is exactly the kind of unhinged SOV artifact that deserves a release this loaded. It is less a normal haunted-house/slasher movie than a full-on hallucination: psychic gigolo energy, killer appliances, gore, ***, chainsaws, jacuzzi weirdness, new wave detours, and a general sense that anything might happen from one scene to the next. The roughness is part of the appeal, especially knowing how early and unusual it was for shot-on-video horror to reach a theatrical 35mm release. AGFA and Bleeding Skull treat it with real care here, with the 2K-preserved theatrical cut, the original home video cut, Psycho Killer, Sally & Jess, commentaries, trailers, TV spots, music videos, and SDH subtitles. A chaotic, generous, totally strange package for SOV horror fans.
