Matt Johnson clicks

"Who knew a movie about making a product could be so fun. I saw BlackBerry before I knew about Nirvanna TheBand The Show. . . So I at first I was a little taken out by him in this movie. But after I saw NirvannaTBTS The Movie (5⭐), I went back and got into the series and now come full circle to really appreciating his Canadian sensibilities. This Blu-ray package is loaded with extras including 3 commentaries and 2 cuts of the movie and lots of BTS features. Well with the price of admission here."

Matt Johnson Delivers Again

"BlackBerry is a fast-paced, sharply written look at the rise and fall of one of tech’s most influential companies. Glenn Howerton steals the show with a high-strung, explosive performance that adds real energy to the story. It’s both funny and a little tragic, capturing how quickly innovation can spiral when ambition and ego take over."

Shawn M. (5/5)

Pretty much the Canadian Social

"Pretty much the Canadian Social Network. Really enjoyed this movie and even though I had the previous Canadian release, I had to grab this for the extended TV version of the film."

Kyle C. (4/5)

Awesome!

"A really funny and very good movie. I had already seen it in streaming, and it was a no-brainer. Had to get it. I enjoyed it a lot during the second viewing. Great performances, a very particular film making style which gets you right into the situations, and a lot of rhythm. The extras are also very interesting: especially the interview with the director, where he explaines how much unplanned stuff ended up being part of the movie. Highly recommended."

DARIO T. (5/5)

Finally on Blu-Ray

"This was an instant all-time favorite for me upon first viewing and it broke my heart that it went so long without a Blu-ray release in the US. Thankfully IFC and VS have fixed this, and not only is it finally on Blu-ray, but it was 2 different cuts of the film! This is a really nice release of Blackberry."

Matthew F. (5/5)

BlackBerry

"BlackBerry (2023), directed by Matt Johnson, is a sharp, fast-talking rise-and-fall story that captures the chaotic energy of the early tech boom with surprising humor and bite. Centered on the partnership between the socially awkward innovator played by Jay Baruchel and the ruthlessly driven executive portrayed by Glenn Howerton, the film thrives on the tension between idealism and ambition. Johnson keeps the pacing brisk and the tone slightly unhinged, mirroring the volatile startup culture it depicts, while Howerton’s performance in particular injects the film with a manic, almost terrifying intensity. Rather than treating its subject with nostalgic reverence, BlackBerry leans into the absurdity and inevitability of its downfall, making it as much a character study as a corporate chronicle—funny, anxious, and quietly tragic all at once."

Terrific Film From Matt Johnson

"You wouldn't expect a film about Canada's flagship smartphone line to be interesting and wildly entertaining, yet here we are. Especially recommend if you're a NTBTS fan, but you'll enjoy it regardless."

Zakaria S. (5/5)

BlackBerry

"Matt Johnson is an insane genius and I would really love to see VS release Operation Avalanche at some point. Having both cuts of the movie is amazing. This blows the Canadian Blu-ray out of the water. One of my all time favorite movies."

Ant D. (5/5)

Awesome Release

"This is a great release, including both the theatrical version and mini-series version. Anytime we can be presented with multiple cuts is a joy! Really cool slipcover on this one, too. The “wear & tear” gives it a really authentic look."

Noah S. (5/5)

matt johnson is a genius

"this movie is fantastic and deserves all the praise. wonderfully shot, sharp editing and great performances from everyone involved. and this is a great release, even though i don't think the AMC+ version is worth watching, it butchers the excellent pacing of the theatrical cut. highly recommended! i wanna slap glenn howerton's bald ass head"
