Molly Stewart (Donna Wilkes, Jaws 2) is at the top of her class at the prestigious private high school she attends. But what her classmates and teachers don’t know is that Molly survives by working nights as a prostitute on Hollywood Blvd, in the company of her friends: a worldly transvestite, a retired cowboy movie star, and her cantankerous but kind-hearted landlady. However, her world begins to fall apart when a depraved, necrophiliac serial killer begins targeting LA’s streetwalkers. As more and more women fall victim to this vicious killer, Molly realizes that it’ll be up to her and her friends to take on the maniac before they too find themselves in his murderous sights…

Mixing brutal, slasher styled killing scenes with the sweetness of an afterschool special, Robert Vincent O’Neil’s (Blood Mania, Wonder Women) ANGEL is one of the seminal exploitation films of the early 80s. Co-starring Dick Shawn (The Producers), Rory Calhoun (Motel Hell), Susan Tyrrell (Cry Baby), Cliff Gorman (All That Jazz), and featuring beautiful cinematography by Andrew Davis (The Fugitive) along with a memorable score by Craig Safan (Cheers), Vinegar Syndrome proudly brings ANGEL to Blu-ray, newly restored in 4K.

Not What Baseless Memes Would Have You Believe

"Decided to finally watch this after seeing a gen-z meme complaining about it based on the DVD box. It’s actually very stylish, over-the-top and fun. It’s about an underage prostitute and her misfit group of friends facing off against a serial killer. I’m sorry, but that’s awesome. Of course, that could go in a very questionable direction, but in this case you never once actually see Angel as she’s doing her thing with a client, cause that’s not the point of the movie, so you can calm down, people. It’s a thriller with a lot of personality."

Angel Blu Ray Review

"This is a fun exploitation movie. The transfer looks good and it's packed with special features."

Sean F. (4/5)

Going from the old DVD

"Going from the old DVD to this Blu-ray was a jarring upgrade! I didn't think this movie could look and sound as it does on the Vinegar Syndrome disc. It had been years since I'd seen it, and this 1080P presentation held my interest more than the movie ever had on previous home video formats. This was also the first time that I really appreciated the above-average filmmaking on display, as the remastered image finally showcases the cinematography, which is considerably better than this type of exploitation/drive-in fare typically got. I'd previously enjoyed the movie on a surface level, but this Blu-ray was such a comparatively immersive experience that I was actually affected by the film on a surprisingly profound level for the first time! There's a reason this movie caused such a sensation (and ushered forth an onslaught of streetwalker-based cash-ins), and that reason is that it's dynamite. Thrilled to own this disc!"

Surprised me

"Surprisingly good! While it may play like an exploitation film at times, it doesn’t feel exploitative of the group of street misfits it portrays. It is actually a wholesome picture! Opted for the new slips for all three and they’re so cool all lined up."

Classic and solid early 80s exploitation

"This is the best of the series, a classic example of early 80s urban sleaze, that's a nice blend of drama, thriller, and humor. Has a lot of wacky characters. One of those sleazy snapshots of LA at the time. If your into urban type exploitation of this era you will like this film. Nothing brutal here but has more heart and charm than most of its ilk."

Ian F. (4/5)

This movie will knock your

"This movie will knock your socks off, great cast of interesting characters. A very bizarre antagonist with mommy issues and a lead who is filled with fire. Great restoration and right choice for the slipcover all over must own title for anyone dabbling in VS."

Will S. (5/5)

It’s good?

"Like actually good. Really progressive in its themes in addition to being a pretty dark film tonally."

Shane M. (4/5)

Such a Surprise!!!

"This was such a surprise and honestly, out of the haul I got this month, this was the best of the bunch. Great film, great special features and great presentation. Well done Vinegar Syndrome! Rated it green - will definitely watch again 💚"

Jace P. (5/5)

How the hell did I not know about this movie ?!

"I really enjoyed this movie! I'd never heard of it and got it as a blind buy during a sale! Everything here feels 80s, and I just crave for more!"

Luc T. (5/5)

Sleazy and oddly wholesome oddity

"I never thought a film about a teenage hooker having to deal with a serial killer could also be a weirdly endearing and sometimes strangely sweet. It's quite jarringly wonderful how this movie's tone changes and it makes it all the more entertaining to watch"
