"This is a slightly unusual horror movie, although I won't say too much about it so I don't spoil the surprise (and there will be surprises!). The acting is brilliant, particularly the kid who is surprisingly good (so many aren't). You'll probably figure out some of what is happening early on and work out what the characters are about, but I doubt you'd guess all the details. Not sure how much repeated viewing value it has, but it was certainly a decent watch."

Meza’s direction favors stillness and tension over overt shocks. Scenes stretch just long enough to feel uncomfortable, and the film’s quiet moments carry more threat than its louder ones. The performances are grounded and naturalistic, which makes the psychological unraveling feel disturbingly plausible. Visually, Affection leans into muted palettes and intimate framing, giving it a voyeuristic texture — as if the audience is witnessing something private, fragile, and increasingly unsafe. "I admit that I bought "Affection" because Jessica Rothe is in it. And she is outstanding in this film. However the plot is much (much!) better than I had anticipated. The rest of the (admittedly small) cast also shine. It certainly has a much darker vibe than the Death Day movies, but rather reminds me of the memory loss / amnesia movies. I would enthusiastically endorse this movie to Rothe fans, and to those who enjoy the Body Snatcher movies."
