"Since I started working at Vinegar Syndrome, I have found a number of Mexican horror gems that I’ve been really impressed with, and Hell’s Trap is definitely one of them. While it plays out similarly to a traditional slasher film, it also subverts many of the genre expectations and tropes. Even though the killer is wearing a mask and has Freddy Krueger-style claws, the killer also uses guns and explosives (which is a rarity in the slasher genre) and the majority of the film takes place during the day (which is also unusual for a slasher). This gives the movie more of a survivalist horror vibe (think Rambo meets Friday the 13th). If you’re a slasher enthusiast and think you’ve seen it all, definitely pick this one up as it is a nice little surprise."
