Berserker

Cozy little comfort slasher, Perfect for a certain mood

Weird but ok

I never heard of this movie before but based on the description I had to grab it. VS made this look amazing, the color is excellent. The movie is a pleasant surprise and I'm glad to have it in my collection.

Berserker is pure video-store-era horror, the kind of scrappy slasher that may not be especially sophisticated but has enough personality to keep things entertaining. The Viking mythology gives it a slightly different flavor from the countless woodland slashers of the period, even if the film never quite exploits that idea as much as you might hope. There is plenty of atmosphere, some satisfyingly grisly moments, and that wonderfully earnest low-budget energy that makes films like this so easy to enjoy decades later. It is hardly a lost horror masterpiece, but it is exactly the sort of oddball genre film that benefits from being rediscovered. Another very natural fit for VS and a fun addition to their catalogue of rescued cult horror.

Unusual slasher with some fun characters and kills. Not the most memorable but it’s good fun.
