Saturn's Core Audio & Video is a New Jersey based home video label devoted to releasing underground oddities and shot on video cinema on VHS, and now, blu-ray discs! In partnership with OCN Distribution, Saturn's Core will exhume forgotten or under-seen genre cinema from the 80s and 90s, with an emphasis on SOV horror features. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!

A notorious SOV horror saga from Oregon based writer / director John Bowker (The Seekers, Housebound, Dreamwalkers), The Evilmaker duology stars ‘90s scream queen Stephanie Beaton (the Witchcraft series, Eyes of the Werewolf) and features cinematography by fellow Corvallis SOV filmmaker Joe Sherlock (Odd Noggins, Monster in the Garage). A pair of rental store and fanzine staples from one of the Pacific Northwest’s most notable, regional video auteurs, John Bowker’s Evilmaker features make their Blu-Ray debut from Saturn’s Core sporting new restorations and over 9 hours of special features!

The Evilmaker (2000)
After catching her husband having an affair, Serena (Stephanie Beaton) hits the road for a weekend getaway with her girlfriends spearheaded by her goth bestie Rachel (Felicia Pandolfi). When their car breaks down on the way, the girls take shelter in a mysterious abandoned house. The girls are promptly slaughtered one by one by an evil, unseen entity which emerges from an ominous culvert nearby, bringing with it sinister and forgotten revelations from Serena’s muddled past

Abomination: The Evilmaker 2 (2003)
Sensing a psychic connection to her missing sister Rachel, Kathy (Kylene Wetherell) returns to the abandoned house where the horrifying events of The Evilmaker took place. With the help of a disgraced police detective, Kathy discovers her sister’s spirit still inhabiting the house in both evil and angelic forms and must traverse the houses’ psychological hellscapes and the homicidal machinations of her possessed friends in order to survive the night.

Lets make some evil

"packs a delightfully heavy, late-'90s slacker hangout vibe alongside literal buckets of low-budget gore. Oh boy and what a cover."

Kevin G. (5/5)

Sexy and fun

"Hot local goths star in a fun SOV double feature that's very entertaining"

The Evilmaker 1 And 2

"I really appreciate that Saturn’s Core have started to put shrink Wrap on their slipcovers to keep them from getting scratched or damaged. Both of these films aren’t great, but they are definitely worth owning."

Jesus T. (5/5)

Evilmaker 1 & 2 Reviews

"Full disclosure, I love watching independent cinema. I have since I first discovered "The Toxic Avenger" back in the early '80s. When I bought the Evilmaker set. . . let's just say I wasn't sure what I was in for. But these were actual really enjoyable."

David H. (5/5)

Skullface Astronaut Adjacent

"Went into this pair of SOV titles not knowing much about it. I’m familiar with the writer/director John Bowker form his appearances in Joe Sherlock directed movies, and then it turns out Joe Sherlock worked on both of these as well. Plus a few actresses (Felicicia Gandolfini, Shannon Barksdale) who also appeared in some Sherlock movies from his Skullface Astronaut company. That gave the commentary tracks and special features a bit of a familiar feel (in a good way), and I enjoyed seeing what some of these people were like on set between takes outside of their on screen characters. The movies are both solid, if you’re amenable to SOV and micro-budget horror to begin with. Stephanie Beaton is great and really sells her part. I also quite liked Arlene Henry playing Cindy and wish there was more of her. She did well for this being her first movie and having no experience at all. Lovely artwork, and even a very substantial booklet with interviews and pictures, so that’s quite nice."

Adam C. (4/5)

Surprisingly Skilled SOV

"A slight step above most SOV films of the time. Surprisingly skilled cinematography for this type of production. This duology is definitely worth a look for fans of SOV horror films."

Shawn M. (3/5)

Classics of 1990s SOV!

"I'm a big fan of John Bowker (and cinematographer/filmmaker in his own right, Joe Sherlock) and am delighted to see these films get the prestige release they deserve. Creepy and well written, and doing excellent work with a small budget. Hopefully Bowker's DREAMWALKERS gets a similar release. And a Joe Sherlock Saturn's Core release would be great, too."

Robert H. (5/5)

Awesome Gruesome Twosome!!!

"This awesome release is from my favorite VS Partner Label, Saturn's Core! Yes, it is a lower budget fare than mainstream horror flicks, but that is simply part of its awesome charm! The 2 films are equally engaging and left me wanting more when they were over! The extras are also pretty cool! The peerless VS restoration process was on full display with stellar sound and picture! Thank you, VS, for continuing to lovingly restore and release so many wonderful films from every conceivable genre! You are keeping physical media alive in this streaming world we now live in! Highly recommended!"

Paul K. (5/5)

Fun sov!

"Really enjoyable sov weirdness. Has some pacing issues but also has that comfy lo fi atmosphere. Lots of wandering around a house and popcorn making. Some blood, some eye candy. Fun time. If you like sov horror pick it up."

Nick M. (3/5)

Good

"Came in just about 2 days, and is in good condition."
