Presented in partnership with Something Weird Video...
The American Genre Film Archive (AGFA) represents the world's largest theatrical catalog of exploitation cinema. Their home video line presents a diverse selection of movies, ranging from new preservations of classics from the vast library of Something Weird to the wildest in shot-on-video (SOV) titles. Vinegar Syndrome’s sister company, OCN Distribution, is thrilled to be representing this diverse and unique home video line!
THE CURIOUS DR. HUMPP isn’t a movie -- it’s a rite of passage. Easily one of the most brainbreaking sensory overloads in exploitation history, the story follows Dr. Humpp and his army of grotesque monsters as they kidnap couples and drain their “blood forces of sex” to keep the doctor eternally young. Directed by the prolific Emilio Vieyra in Argentina, this movie combines artful gothic horror with unhinged sex, comic book pulp, and a talking brain in a jar. Plus a monster who plays the guitar. Basically, this is what might have happened if Mario Bava collaborated with Doris Wishman after an acid binge. AGFA + Something Weird are thrilled to present a brand new restoration of this iconic sex-horror classic, complete with a new commentary track from filmmaker Frank Henenlotter (BASKET CASE). Plus LA VENGANZA DEL SEXO, Vieyra’s original “horror” cut of THE CURIOUS DR. HUMPP in its original Spanish language -- available for the first time ever on home video with English subtitles!

"US Version: sex, sex, more sex, and then a little bit more sex before adding in some more sex. In other words. . . sex."
"It’s great finally having this wonky exploration flick on Blu-ray."
"The Curious Dr. Humpp can be read as disposable, or as something far stranger: a low-budget metaphysics of control, disguised as pulp. In that light, it stands—not as a polished achievement—but as a curious artifact of ideas, where the ridiculous and the profound briefly, improbably converge."
"Some wild 60s psychedelic weirdness. Top stuff."
"If you like weird movies and boobs you will live Dr. Humpp"
"I would describe this film as bewildering, and I mean it as a compliment. It definitely feels like a bit of a Frankensteins monster with the insert footage, but it also makes the film more entertaining at the end of the day. I do appreciate that the original version was also included here."
"One cannot review this movie and do it justice. It is far too weird for the written word. You must experience it for yourself."
"Legendary cult film which delivers everything you've heard. And in a pristine restoration. With the original Spanish cut included. Imagine a Universal horror classic falling into the hands of Wilhelm Reich, Phil Tucker and Jodorowxky and you get the idea."
"This movie is a wild ride. Kudos to Vinegar Syndrome for restoring and including both the original subtitled version and the inferior dubbed US edit, which adds a lot of extra nude scenes that are sometimes comical (how did all these naked hippies end up in this dungeon?) but kill the pacing. The plot in both cuts is almost incomprehensible, the creature design is laughable, and the actions of pretty much every character are ludicrous. It's a lot of fun! The included audio commentary is essential, where Frank Henenlotter shares info about the movie and tells the story of discovering its print as part of a massive film haul that created the Something Weird library."
"Bought on a sale and was very pleased with purchase. Weirdness at it's finest. Great packaging."
