The first US lensed film from the master of Italian horror, Dario Argento (Suspiria, Opera), TRAUMA was his return to classical form giallo filmmaking, offering a twist filled, labyrinthine plot, brutal and creative murders, stunning scope cinematography, and a haunting score by Pino Donaggio (Piranha). Headlined by an all-star cast including three-time Oscar nominee Piper Laurie (Carrie), Oscar nominees Frederic Forrest (Apocalypse Now) and Brad Dourif (One Flew Over the Cuckoo’s Nest), acclaimed actor James Russo (Django Unchained), and actress and director Asia Argento (The Heart is Deceitful Above All Things) in her first starring role. Vinegar Syndrome is thrilled to present TRAUMA on Blu-ray, newly restored in 4K and debut its longest and most complete version ever, with the complete English dialogue track totally intact for the very first time.

"This Argento film has some great ideas, and some fun performances, notably from Asia Argento, Piper Laurie, and a cameo by Brad Dourif. The plotting is a little scattershot, but overall a good film to watch if you're interested. Loads of extra features put great value to this release."
"The opening scene is really cool. The movie has glimpses of classic Dario Argento. It gers a little nutty but it's Argento. The slipcover is pretty nice. Video quality is excellent. Subtitles were great too."
"Not Argento's best work by a mile, but still an entertaining flick. There's a great cast with Brad Dourif and Piper Laurie, even though they don't get enough screen time in my opinion. I really like the design and artwork on this release as well."
"Argento a weirdo for this one, but it is a bit fun"
"Hadn’t seen this since it came out, so I had to revisit. Is firmly in the middle for me, and I think it would be for completists only. Great transfer though, with good extras as well."
"Being a huge fan of Argento and gialli in general, this was a great pick for me. Argento alone is good enough a reason for me to purchase. Put horror legend Tom Savini on the effects as well and I am completely sold. Glad I managed to get one of the last few slips too."
"Great transfer, great packaging. It's not one of Argento's best, but it's better than a lot of his late period. Worth looking into if you're a fan."
"Argento interview gives some interesting contextual connection to French revolution as well as a deeper analysis with anorexia and its quite unfortunate effects on his daughter who passed. The producer gives far more backstop here, very sad indeed. Love the Savini interview with all the fx behind the scenes and how they managed to accomplish the rolling severed of Piper Laurie who has an awesome interview in the extras. Movie itself is filled with unforgettable moments like the birthing scene that is origin story of killer, holy shit a must see. Fav decap you'll know it when you see it- maybe not there's so many good ones to choose from!"
"Under appreciated gem - might be my favorite Argento from the 90s, and this scan is a worthy addition to any collection."
