Liebestraum

This has always been overlooked, but I'm so glad to have it in a fabulous new edition.

I blind bought Liebestraum and was pleasantly surprised with how engaged and drawn into the film I was. Definitely a lot of influence from David Lynch and Twin Peaks though I would not consider it to be a ripoff (David Lynch ended up casting Bill Pullman and Pamela Gidley from this film in Lost Highway and Fire Walk With Me, respectively. This is an underrated movie that deserves a watch.

This is a real gem of a film it's pure art many thanks for releasing this vinegar syndrome

Very cool flick. Check it out

A visually rich film which requires a lot of work to figure out. Its intuitive approach to narrative crawls, with puzzling dialog consisting mainly of interjections or seeming random interactions instead of actual conversations between characters - which works much of the time, except for when they have the marvellous Kim Novak reduced down to muttering and mumbling as if they forgot to turn her mic on. Throughout, though, it’s picturesque and vivid in its detailed framing - each setting could serve as a painting. The lighting, too, is incredible all through. The incoherent narrative seems to be its purpose - especially when the secondary characters end up being so deliberately odd and unpleasant, they register a bit cartoonish. This director seems to have been instructed to do a film in the style of David Lynch - and he does it well overall. Bill Pullman is fun here, he plays a jerk and chomps on some scenery. Kevin Anderson, the lead, is impressive - visually pleasing and seems to know what’s going on with the whole thing. Pamela Gidley is excellent as the female lead, I need to explore her other work.
